I have often used many different recipes for herbal hair rinses. There are many different herbal treatments for different hair types. My hair was feeling especially oily yesterday and I created a tincture which did an amazing job. My hair felt soft, smelled good, and was not oily anymore.
Here is the recipe:
a handful strawberry leaves (good for getting oil out)
a handful mint leaves (good for getting volume)
some lemon juice (puts hightlights in light hair. This can be left out if you don't have light hair.)
some apple cider vinegar (gets oil and other chemicals out)
pour boling water over herbs and cover. Let it sit for more than 20 minutes. Use after it has cooled enough by pouring it over your hair or sumerging your hair in it.
Now I'll name a hair type and list herbs which work well for it.
Normal: rosemary, thyme, blackberry leaf, lavender, mint, elderberries, vinegar.
Dry: borax, chamomile oil, cider vinegar.
Oily: strawberry leaves, mint leaves, rosemary leaves, lemon.
Itchy/dandruff: catnip, nettle tops, birch leaves, cider vinegar, chamomile oil.
Brunettes/dark hair: sage, cinnamon, coffee, nettle.
Blonde: chamomile, rubarb, lemon, caledula petals.
Red: Hibiscus, red wine, water used to boil beets.

Those sound pretty good.
This is very informative. My hair is normal and perhaps a bit dry so I need something different I expect. I love apple cider vinegar for a lot of things....I drink a tablespoon a day with a bit of honey and water to prevent my gout from coming back. My daughter read this remedy on line with I had an outbreak and it made it go away! So much wisdom lost, but we'll get it back I expect. I was unable to reply to your email...it was sent back undeliverable. I think this email is expired or something. I wanted to ask you if your name is Rose. Love that name, it's my beloved mom's name. Love and Light and Pass On Good Intentions To All
I used only water and the Hydratherma Naturals Herbal Gloss Heat Protector. The key is to keep the hair soaking wet while setting it and definitely use mesh end papers.
hair growth oils
@ Ula They don't just sound good. They smell good too!
@ArtSings I didn't know that it was good for preventing gout! It truly amazing what you find out helps with medical issues like that. As for the e-mail thing you should try replying again. My e-mail is at the bottom of the main page here. My name is not Rose but I like that name too! My favorite girl names is Willow.
